Born in Verbania, Italy, Stefano Rapetti graduated with the highest honors in classical studies. He then obtained a clarinet degree with perfect marks at the Conservatorio “G. Cantelli” di Novara under the guidance of M° Sandro Tognatti.
He participated in courses held by Denis Zanchetta, Charles Neidich, Alessandro Carbonare and Fabrizio Meloni. In 2003, he received his diploma from the Accademia di Alto Perfezionamento “L. Perosi” in Biella with “excellent” marks from Thomas Friedli.
Throughout his collaborations with numerous orchestras, such as the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana di Fiesole, Accademia del teatro La Scala, Teatro Coccia di Novara, “I Virtuosi di Roma”, Mantova Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica del Piemonte, among others, he has performed in concert halls such as Lincoln Center (New York), KKL in Luzern, Teatro Verdi in Florence, and in the Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers.
Since 2008, he has dedicated himself to the study of baroque music, and in 2013 received his diploma for the Baroque recorder at the Civica Scuola di Musica di Milano with M° Daniele Bragetti, after attending master-level courses with Walter van Hauwe, Stefano Bragetti and Claudia Caffagni. He is currently active with the Ensemble Barocco Vermeer.
Since 2015, he has embarked on a new path, leveraging his acquired competencies in modern clarinet and ancient music by dedicating himself to studying the classical clarinet on original instruments from the second half of the 18th century under the guidance of Maestro Rocco Carbonara, with whom he collaborates within the Clarionet Ensemble, and honing his skills with Eric Hoeprich and Luca Lucchetta.
For Edizioni Pian&Forte, he has written several prefaces to Bellinzani’s works and is editing arrangements for solo clarinet from baroque authors for HDSB Music Publishing.
He teaches clarinet at the “Liceo Musicale Gobetti” in Omegna.
